Nicki Minaj Calls Out Miley Cyrus During VMAs Acceptance Speech

Nicki Minaj may have cleared up her bad blood with Taylor Swift when she opened the VMAs on Sunday night -- but when she accepted the award for Best Hip-Hop Video she sparked a (faux?) feud with the night's host, Miley Cyrus.

When she went up on stage, the rapper made sure to give a shoutout to all the pretty girls and dudes making money and randomly (her words) thanked her pastor. But things changed when she turned to an unsuspecting Cyrus and said, "Let's get back to this b***h who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?!" (We see that smirk, though.)

Minaj was referring to an answer the "Bangerz" singer gave in an interview to The New York Times. When asked about her thoughts on the whole Minaj-Swift twitter feud, she responded, "If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: 'This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.'"

She continued, "What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love."

So basically, she called Minaj rude.

But on stage, Cyrus stayed calm and responded by saying the comments were just a result of the media manipulating her words. She went on to congratulate Minaj for winning.

But who are we kidding: The whole spat was likely scripted, and the two women are probably going to hug it out when they close the show together.

Melissa McCarthy Shares The Ultimate Girl Power Photo From The Set Of 'Ghostbusters'

The new "Ghostbusters" reboot is equipped with a serious dose of girl power thanks to its all-female lead cast, but it's even stronger than we thought. And we're totally cool with that.

Melissa McCarthy, one of the stars, took a moment to appreciate all the women working on the new reboot by sharing an awesome photo of every woman who had a part in the film (either in front of the camera or behind the scenes) on Instagram. In the pic, McCarthy, along with her co-stars Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, stand in front of a group of over 50 cast and crew members, while holding a giant sign printed with the words "girl power."

The "Spy" star gave a little shoutout to fellow girl power advocate Ellen DeGeneres and captioned the photo, "3 cheers to @theellenshow from all the remarkable women of #ghostbusters. When we stand together we are unstoppable! #girlpower."

The new "Ghostbusters" film has been polarizing, to say the least, with some fans excited about the all-female cast and others totally bashing the whole concept.

But regardless of what people think about the film, it's no doubt an important project, especially because of its strong female representations (both in front of and behind the camera). And if the photo above proves anything, it's that women in Hollwood can do anything men can.

Take that, haters.

Courtney Love Pens Heartbreaking Message To Late Husband Kurt Cobain

Courtney Love's daughter Frances Bean Cobain turned 23 on Aug. 18, and the milestone seems to have stirred some emotions in the rock star.

On Aug. 19, Love shared a photo of herself with her late husband, Kurt Cobain, in bed with Frances when she was just a baby. Love captioned the photo, "My greatest love and our precious Bean #missyou #memories."

Two days later, the 51-year-old singer shared another image from the same photo shoot and penned a heartbreaking message to Cobain, who died in 1994 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Makes me feel so sad. Our baby is all grown up now. Jesus Kurt look at her face, what on earth were you thinking..!?!? God I miss you, we all miss you #family #memories #turnbacktime #lovehim," she wrote.

While Cobain never really seems to fade from the headlines, the late rocker was in the spotlight again earlier this year with the release of the documentary "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck," which saw Frances Bean acting as executive producer and had Love's full support.

Kim Kardashian Celebrates 42 Million Instagram Followers With Raciest Pic Yet

Kim Kardashian isn't one to shy away from a racy Instagram pic, but she may have outdone herself with this one.

The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star just reached 42 million followers on Instagram and as her way of celebrating, she shared a photo of her cleavage black tank top. Oh, and her glossed lips.

The 34-year-old expectant mother captioned the pic simply, "42 mil."

What better way to thank your followers than with a sexy selfie? Typical Kim.

The photo comes just after Kim's selfie with "our next President," Hillary Clinton. The reality star met Clinton at a fundraiser Thursday hosted by Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.

The Freelance Economy

With sites like Elance, Freelancer, and Guru, it's easy to see that many people have already turned to freelancing either to supplement their income or as a full time occupation. Even for those in the US who haven't yet participated in freelancing, a few statistics suggest that this will become a very important part of the economy in the coming decade. Here is a quick overview of what freelancing is and why it's so important:

What is Freelancing?

A freelancer, or independent contractor, is someone who isn't committed to a single employer, but rather works independently for several different clients.

Freelancing is increasingly becoming a very large part of the US economy. According to due.com, there are roughly 53 million freelancers in the US contributing $715 billion in earnings to the national economy.

Who Benefits from Freelancing?

The people who will benefit the most form freelancing will be writers, designers, and programmers. On average, writers earn $58-$82 per blog post written, designers earn $52-$90 per hour, and programmers earn $63-$180 per hour. If you are among the best of the best, your earnings can go much higher.

Why Freelance?

So why would anyone actually want to freelance? Well it carries a number of advantages over traditional work. The one that will resonate with most anyone who has held down a job is that you get to be your own boss. This means the right to accept and deny whichever jobs you want, and to determine your own work schedule. There's also great potential to make more money than the average employee; some reports have found that freelancers earn an average of 45% more than traditional workers. You also get a greater sense of work-life balance, as only about 29% of freelancers work more than 40 hours a week. Finally, studies have found that freelancers are typically happier and healthier than their employee counterparts.

Challenges of Freelancing

Freelancing does come with its own challenges, many of which ironically stem from the nature of being your own boss. You're responsible for signing clients, accounting, and you face the challenge of inconsistent work. Freelancing is certainly not for everyone, as you must have an entrepreneurial spirit to be successful. However, for many who are looking for a new model of work, this just may be the opportunity they're looking for.

The rise of the gig economy, coupled with the fact that today's business environment is very friendly towards entrepreneurs and non-traditional work, makes it seem that freelancing will play an increasingly important role in the US economy going forward. If you're looking to leave the corporate world or are having a tough time finding a steady job, freelancing could be a viable option. This is particularly true of talented writers, programmers, and designers. One need only glance at a freelance website and see the quantity of jobs being ferried out to freelancers to see that there is demand for this type of work.

Why Jon Watts Is A Promising Choice To Direct The New 'Spider-Man'

When Sony and Marvel announced that their new untitled "Spider-Man" film would be directed by Jon Watts, you probably thought, "Wait, who?" So did we. It was a surprise that a director with only a couple of feature films under his belt -- the second of which had yet to hit theaters at the time -- would helm a major superhero-franchise installment.

So what was it about Watts that made the studios entrust him with the third film version of Peter Parker's story, which will star Tom Holland? "I'm not sure," Watts told The Huffington Post over the phone. But after seeing his latest film, we have a bit of an idea. Co-written and directed by Watts, "Cop Car" follows two 10-year-old boys, Travis (James Freedson-Jackson) and Harrison (Hays Wellford), who stumble upon a corrupt sheriff's (Kevin Bacon) abandoned police car and take it for a joyride.

Much of what makes the slow-burning thriller so refreshing is that it portrays how most kids would naturally behave when given the chance to exercise good-cop, bad-cop fantasies -- daring one another to touch the car, then to drive it, then drive a little faster, then fire guns, until things escalate into real peril. That's just what creates the rising tension in "Cop Car." It placed the boys' naiveté and thirst for rebellion and adventure side-by-side with violence and malicious adult characters. Beyond its strong performances, "Cop Car" reveals that Watts has an eye for capturing the spirit of youth and boyhood, which would make him a favorable choice to direct a young Peter Parker juggling high school with crime-fighting.

"To me, what's exciting is writing a 10-year-old character the way that a 10-year-old probably thinks," Watts hold HuffPost. "Because I remember what I was thinking when I was 10. You’re not that smart yet, you’re not experienced, you don’t know how the world works yet, but you believe that your ideas are good ideas still." That perspective is evident in both Travis and Harrison in "Cop Car," as the two boys attempt to take on the roles of adults only to be are faced with danger and forced to make life-threatening decisions.

"Sometimes people make the mistake of projecting an adult personality onto a little kid, or making a little kid just be a dumb little kid," Watts said. "For me, what’s fun is to remember what you’re actually thinking when you were 10 and trying to capture that." The director connected this to his "Spider-Man" film, which will follow Peter Parker as a sophomore. "The same applies to high school," Watts said of the way he approaches writing young characters. "What was your 16-year-old brain like?" he asked. "What was important?"

Watts couldn't reveal much about his new version of the web-slinger, adding that he's in the early stages of writing the script. But with a promising film like "Cop Car," Watts may have a great deal to bring to the Spidey franchise after all.

"Cop Car" is now in theaters.
